Electrostatic potential maps of ribonucleases and their zymogens. Wild-type human RNase 1 has a cationic active-site (yellow oval). Cyclization to form a zymogen blocks that active site. QBI-139 has cationic residues grafted at the RI-binding interface. The image of RNase 1 is from PDB entry 1z7x [21]. A model of Str2 was built with Rosetta as described previously [16].
